Saw a lovely one the other day. Really really nice. White and red (the only colour!) and nice mods - twin headlights (which actually looked well -usually I don't like em) and a very tasty carbon fibre akrapovic can.
Me likee velly much

Lovely looking bike alright and deemed to be the best of the big retro muscle bikes by the press. Build quality supposed to be miles ahead of the GSX1400 and XJR1300......
Sales of big nakes like these are rising in the UK and sports bike sales are waning due in no certain measures to the rise in speed cameras/insurance and supposedly due to the uncomfortable nature of many of the sports bikes primarily designed for the average Asian male. :|
Most of the modern Thou sports bikes are bleeding tiny. Like monkey bikes for anyone over 6ft tall.

I like the look of the big CB, although not the red 'n white paint scheme. Would be nice in all black I think. Tried, unsuccessfully, to get my hands on a clean CB1000 'Big One' about two years ago. Very few in Ireland and the ones that do exist are ridiculously priced. Real muscle appeal in a classic frame - think superfour on steroids!

Ah I love the red and white, it's class.
Took a spin on a 03 bandit 12 today in Premier, only 1500 miles on it -absolutely mint it was. You could actually eat your dinner off it. Very very nice bike, and some poke in it - loadsa torque, no need to wind it on, just instant shove between 3 and 6,000 revs. I liked it.

Yeah while I was on it because I had driven down on the er5. Hadn't driven the r1 for about 3 weeks cos I had the can off and hadn't been bothered to replace it, he said it'd be about 3 grand plus mine to change.
Then I went home, put the can on the r1, and went for a spin. -Wtf was I thinking. With insurance costs and all the other costs I might get pissed off from time to time, but I keep forgetting what a fantastic machine it is.
A bandit 12 would be good craic for a while, but I'd rather go for a first generation one for peanuts, and keep the 1

Just bought an '03 CB 1300 in black, having returned to motorbiking about 15 months ago on a SV650... I'm a sucker for naked muscle bikes and while I think the GSX1400 looks better the only thing that disappoined me on the SV was the build quality... The bike I'vebought is about 3 months older than the one I've sold and even allowing for showroom sprucing up you can see the difference in finish... my wife thought the bike I had bought was brand new!
The ride is of course very different, very smooth, loads of bottom end torque, less feel and less engine breaking... also less effort to get to high speeds so I can see I'm going to have to watch it a bit.

Good man yourself. Wheredja get it and cé mhéad was it? Bring her out for a spin tomorrow - if we're meeting up that is. What's the story lads?
I saw that cb1300 I was talking about again yesterday. Bloody hell your man who bought it must have spent a fortune on it. It's got twin ohlins on the rear and that akrapovic can. Beautiful looking machine.
Only thing is: I was following him in the car from traffic light to traffic light for a little while and he was gunning it to get ahead of cars and be first at the next lights etc AND from the way he was going I have a horrible sneaking suspicion that he has the dreaded washers in the carbs syndrome. - That's a big bike for 33bhp

Seen a cb1300 for the first time in the flesh last thursday. red and white with the akrapovic can (didn't notice the shocks). Looked great imo, better than the gsx 1300, nice bike Old Bamber.
Whats the story with the yamaha xjr, i've read a few group tests, the yamaha has ohlins as standard and yet is down the pecking order in terms of handling. Are ohlins all they're cracked up to be or does the xjr just have a crap frame?

Ohlins are very good, but a decent shock alone won't transform a crap bike's handling.

Bought the bike at York Suzuki... went out for a spin today and understand why the ride is described as 'creamy' ... very smooth and effortless... was conscious of the weight but not surprising given the differnce between the CB and the SV I was riding before... felt very planted and more secure than the SV... less outright fun but more comfirtable. No doubt, would be better still if the sun was shining...

Yeah sure the yamaha xjr 1300 has ohlins on it as standard, and it doesn't handle any better than its rivals.
I was more commenting on the expense your man went to. Those yokes ain't cheap

That's what I meant too. ;D There are cheaper ways of improving your handling and or ride quality.

Actually that looks pretty good!
Saw two gleaming red 'n white CB13's outside Capital the other day. Wonder what they're asking for 'em, considering the model's been out in Japan for 7 years or so.

Dont know why they wouldnt go all the way and buy a really good bike like the Pan.
Probably too mean.
I could sell them a good one cheap, and no bag of crisp jokes and half eaten sambos lol

There are ohlins, and there are Ohlins.......
Yamaha own Ohlins and what better bit of bling than a Roberts style paint job and some stickers on gold coloured shocks.Nice looking bike, tho.
BTW,you will be able to tell if they're real Ohlins if they leak after about 6000 miles. They use very soft seals to reduce stiction in the damper unit, the downside is that they dont last long.
