View Full Version : Who said Alfasud's were unreliable?

I have been so busy tinkering with other machinery that my poor Alfasud has been relegated to waiting forlornly in the garage wondering if I had forgotten completely I had bought it at all.
So today after about three months of just giving it the occasional glance as I walked by it I decided I had better give it a bit of a spin. Charged up the battery during the night and not knowing what to expect I went in just an hour ago to start it. ;D
Four turns of the key is all it took. Whoever said these cars were unreliable – went for a spin in it and drives like a dream. I still have to do a few things to it though but its reassuring to know that basically it is a sound car :D

I'm just curious. How many cars have you got?

Just a sec - have to get my list out
Ah yes - confused there for a minute - 10 - well 9 cars and a Caddy van. An adequate number to keep me motoring for now I suppose;D

Let me guess - the neighbours all call you the Sultan Of Brunei.
That's quite a collection. ;D

Of course it is. There's two too many VWs in there :)
Can you do one of your Factfiles for the Alfasud? I like yours, but admit I prefer the very first ones.

While we're here, any ideas what this is?

Yes DS I plan to do a factfile report on all my cars even the Caddy - whether people like it or not. :'D
I am waiting for my Alfasud to be fully A1 before I do one for that as all I could say at the min about it is that I bought it and stuffed it in the garage which is not much of a story. ;D
I am totally puzzled by that yellow alfa - I saw the word 'Zagart' in the properties of the pic - wild guess - its an Alfa Romeo Zagart. :hat:
Thought it might be this one but its not - and I have even forgotten what this car was called now

Found an answer here (http://www.madle.org/eec03i.htm) from boards.ie
It's an Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato 1600GT, 1973. Sound like one you should have in your stable, no?

Well there are lots of candidates for the stable - but I have reached my limit in terms of car ownership - so before anything new is contemplated something old must go first. Only problem is I just can't come to a decision as to which one I should sell - they all please me equally.
Just keepimg them all washed now is a big headache - I usually do about three in one session.
Top of my list at the min is a nice RS2000 Escort Mk 1. ;D

Ditch some of those clapped out escorts, you'll get some decent dosh from the rally guys if they are what they are looking for..

Wasn't the RS2000 a Mark II?
Ah, Alfasuds...I remember my brother wrote off a brand-new ti, having put up just 500 miles on it. :D
I'd take any alfa.... Just ask Junior ;)
