Guys why is there a 2 grand difference between these two elises?
€16,950 (http://lotus.linders.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=777206)
€18,995 (http://lotus.linders.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=931251)
Or should i just give them a call and find out?

The first one is also wine :(
Silver one is better....although elise in red is still the best in my opinion, yellow aint bad either ;)

Chiki - The silver (more expensive) car seems to have a colour coded hard-top fitted. They cost about 600-700euros on the 2nd hand market.
The notes for the lower price car refer to an ex-VRT price being available on request - but there is no mention of it on the other. I suspect its probably an original Irish based car ? 53000miles on Irish roads in an elise is quite something, and probably a lot tougher on a car than something similar in the UK.
I know the maroon car has been in Linders for quite some time, so maybe they're having difficulty selling it.
Have a look at both - check out the story behind each. Then, take somebody who knows elises along, and let him (/her?) check everything know about the model to see how the two stack up.
Hope this helps.
Also the wine one is without VRT.

there are some very nice looking ones in UK at the moment.
pity this one is sold, it's by far the best colour : http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/473445.htm
EDIT - of course it needs black wheels and some CF aero.

Great to hear you're still serious about getting the Elise! Would defo recommend getting it over the water if you're gonna spend that much, unless you really find the perfect car for you here... I wasn't choosy at all until I test drove one or two, then became a lot fussier
I can give you a list of the dealers in the London area I thought were good if you need it... one or two cowbys out there for sure. Great feeling to walk onto a forecourt and find 12 second hand Elises staring back at ya! Depth of choice was the main reason I went down the importing route....
Be prepared for every part of your elise to rattle and shake... no comparison with an efficient German mini! I think they are still using superglu and sticky tape to put Elises together. But i LOVE it - all part of the fun ;)

Linders is well over priced, and Ireland in general. I saved at least 4k by buying in the UK, and as has been mentioned, there is far more choice.
I saved about €5k...Insurance and tax covered for 4 years:'D

I would have no problem buying in the UK as i saved a packet on the MINI.
I have no doubt that dealers overprice (i worked in one for long enough)....
If you time it right we could do a hoon to pick Chicki's Lotus up....just a thought.

Cool, I'll dig my list of dealers up... was just out with Linders there today dropping the car in for 1st proper service, really couldn't believe they're selling 05 reg cars for the same i paid for 07 reg one in the uk, even after vrt boat home etc etc... cant argue with supply and demand i suppose...
Spent a month on pistonheads before doing the rounds... also found that bad dealers sometimes have great websites n vice versa!!

If you were prepared to wait till after the summer then thats the time to buy in the UK, from what I see every decent elise is being sold as soon as they hit the autotrader or pistonheads. After they summer the prices will drop a little. Unfortunatly I know this from experience

Isn't yours a 111S?
I dont know! How can I find out? :)
I think its 135bhp
If it's a 111S then it'll have the VVC engine. if it's 135 bhp, then it's possibly a 135R or 135 sport, btu I have a feeling it's a 111S, I was going to buy it after all;)

Its not up for sale anywhere. Im not that pushed. I will pay the VRT in a few weeks if I dont sell it. I like the VVT / 2nd CAM idea you see :)
