View Full Version : 3.2 GTV - for real or just an "M badge"?

Passed a UK reg GTV last weekend heading south on the N11. Travelling very sedately, but it had a quad system like V6's. Very very neatly fitted, and black as well, not chromed. They looked like a factory fit almost. Thing is it also had a "3.2 V6" badge at the back, that also looked... factory, if you get me.
Was there such a car? Or a 156 GTA re-badge ?
Either way it looked great, and if it had the 3.2 engine fitted to match the badge, would be a spanking combination.

the later version of the GTV comes with the 3.2 V6 engine. (same as the GTA) 250 hp standard I think. This should have the new "Deep Grill" nose. If not then its just a badge stuck onto it.
The pipes are after market, GTV only come with one rear pipe as standard.
The front of it should look like this and be post 2003: link (http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/457110.htm)
Brilliant cars and quite rare. Was considering picking one up, and starting from scratch again a while ago.

I think the Cup used a 3.2 also.

nope, cup is 3.0.
Only difference in the cup is fancy body kit and different seats.
the 3.2 has no diff, although most owners install an alfa Q2 diff

isn't fancy a lovely word. I'd never heard of the cup until I saw one recently - and wish I hadn't - those damn wheels have me obsessed!
is the 3.2 a GM lump?

Not in those, AFAIK. All Alfa.

The new 3.0 is based on a GM lump, but the 3.2 is the final iteration of the Arese engine, and it has been described by clarkson as 'not an engine, but a heart'.
It's a wonderful engine.

Is that the dreaded disease that Gay Byrne described as "being a young man"? :'D

Anyone know of a crashed 3.2?
My big brother had a 1.3 Mk1 Capri back in the day. When he eventually came a cropper the insurance company said it was the worst case of dyslexia they had ever seen - under the bonnet was a 3.1 Essex.
