Default Losing it at Mondello

Was just looking over some old vids and came across this one from early last year... Was trying to get a set of 'plastic' slicks to work and was told I'd need to push quite hard to get them up to temperature.. (even though they would feel like a bars of soap)... The more I could push them the better the chance they would come up to temperature I was told.. Little did I know Elastic only stretches so far... Enjoy the vid..

whatever about the spin that was some bloody recovery!

I've also realised my line was very wrong through the corner you spun on!

Thanks.. Takes a while to learn the line through turn 3 (Duckhams).. Just dab the brake on entry (80-90 mph mid apex (depending on the car of course)) and at the second apex medium heavy on the brakes... Its a place where some people lose a lot of time per lap, probably the most...

If your interested in some of the lines at speeds.. Here's a vid with data.. Remember these are precise (GPS) figures, so your speedo may register 10 to 15% more...

Hey Piers, get your post count up so you can do the octane trackdays and show some of that great driving first hand.

That's the exact line I try to take through turn 3 also but every single time my stomach turns inside out as I wait for the lift-off ovsteer

having nothing better to do, i just played that second clip side by side with a lap of my own from a couple of months ago. sure enough you are a fair bit quicker through not just turn 3, but turn 2 and the entry to the esses. i've since got some good advice from patmcb on those corners. for the rest of the track there's little in it - i think i'm getting more speed on the straights but you're pulling that bit more through the bends.
overall though there's about a 2-3 second difference and every bit of it is in the turns listed above.

are you on slicks there ? good brakes too - what are they ?

EDIT - looking at the date, oct 07, i think that was the trackday that i got my first spin in an exige. i remember seeing your car in the pitlane that day.

Very nice recovery!! Looks like you meant to spin

That corner scared the crap out of me before, went completely sideways but kept her under control for about 2 seconds longer
